55+ 4-Hour Defensive Driving Online Training

Improve your driving skills, and if you're 55 or older, get a discount on your personal auto insurance!
The National Safety Council's Online Abridged Defensive Driving Course is ideal for the experienced adult driver. This program leads trainees through defensive driving techniques and collision analyses to sharpen collision avoidance skills. The online program allows individuals to take the course when and where
it is convenient and will monitor and
track progress, allowing you to log on/off as needed (it will pick up
from where you left off).
According to Minnesota State Law, people aged 55 and older who complete a
4-hour state-approved defensive driving course are eligible to receive a
10%, three-year discount on auto insurance.
This includes in-person classroom, online, and live virtual Zoom training. After you complete the course, you will receive a certificate of completion to give to your insurance company.

- For multiple users, each driver must log in under their own name, creating a SEPARATE ACCOUNT.
- Each user must create a profile to register. THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE YOUR LOGIN CREDENTIALS FOR THE COURSE.
- STEP 4 - Fill out your payment details and click submit.
- STEP 5 - IMPORTANT: A Red "CLICK HERE TO COMPLETE TRANSACTION" button should appear - CLICK THIS BUTTON.

You will receive an email from the Minnesota Safety Council with:
- The web address to access your training, and a unique login and password created for you. (THIS IS NOT THE LOGIN AND PASSWORD YOU PREVIOUSLY CREATED).
- A confirmation of purchase and your receipt.
NOTE: The confirmation email is sent after Step 4. You MUST complete Step 5 to finalize your registration.
Once you have registered for the program you can access or log back into the training.
Even if this is your first time taking the course, you will be a RETURNING USER.
- STEP 1 - Go to https://training.nsc.org/mnscretail
- STEP 2 - Click on the RETURNING USER button.
- STEP 3 - Type in your Login ID and Password, then click "Login."
- This information is in the follow-up email your received from the Minnesota Safety Council after completing your course purchase.
- STEP 4 - Answer the first question about your registration date and hit continue.
- STEP 5 - Under the "My Courses" tab, find your course title and click the button marked "Start eLearning" or "Continue."
